Once upon a time one
needed a certain degree of education in order to get a job. They
say that's old-fashioned now: it's no longer the education that
counts, it's their level of competence that is essential in personnel
selection procedures. Although they now think they should get
any job they want there's still a very effective (and fun!) way
to turn them down as bloody as possible: ask
for their portfolio! You see, in this competence-theory
they have
to prove to you that they
have in one way or another acquired the competences you require
for the job! Isn't that great!
So sit back and enjoy
the ride ... let them sweat their pants off, trying to convince
you that they're genuises and that they can turn lead to gold
and they'll make you rich and that they'll never be sick ... Just
yawn, look at the ceiling, scratch your balls and say "Hmmmm?"
every now and then. Look who's more competent now, eh?
